Content library

Optional text collections you can add to Grace: large, Public-Domain works that are too big to ship inside the application download itself. Everything here is free, with a published SHA-256 so you can verify your copy.

Grace already ships with a core set of Bibles, dictionaries, commentaries, and books. The items below are extra: download a .sqlite file, drop it into the matching per-user folder, and it appears in the app's Downloads → Books… (or the matching) dialog as installed. The app still makes no network calls on startup; this is a one-shot manual add.

The Works of Thomas Manton (9 volumes) Thomas Manton (1620–1677), Puritan divine and one of the scribes of the Westminster Assembly: his expositions of James, Jude and Psalm 119, together with sermon volumes. Nine of the twenty-two volumes of the Nisbet Complete Works (1870–1875): volumes I–VIII and XX, which are the volumes CCEL has digitized. The Works of John Owen (32 works) John Owen (1616–1683), Puritan theologian and Vice-Chancellor of Oxford: thirty-two treatises, sermon collections and controversial works from the William H. Goold edition (1850–1853), among them Of Communion with God, The Death of Death in the Death of Christ, Pneumatologia, The Mortification of Sin, Of Temptation, and The Glory of Christ. Each work is a top-level entry in the tree, fully searchable. Owen's Latin poem to Cromwell carries an English prose translation prepared for Grace alongside the original. Verifying a download

Each available file publishes a SHA-256. Recompute it and compare; if the values differ, delete and re-download.

Linux / macOS:

Adding content to Grace

Download the .sqlite file above.
Move it into the per-user folder shown in its Install note: by default under your Documents folder, for example ~/Documents/Grace/Books/ for books or ~/Documents/Grace/Commentaries/ for commentaries on Linux/macOS (Documents\Grace\… on Windows). You can change these folders in Settings → Preferences → Paths.
Flatpak: use the same ~/Documents/Grace/… folders; the Flatpak ships with the xdg-documents permission so they work like the .deb. Do not copy files into the Flatpak's install directory; that bundled data is read-only and is erased on every update.
Open Grace and choose the matching Downloads dialog (Books…, Commentaries…, or Dictionaries…). The new title appears as Available (user folder); no further download needed.
Read it from the matching side-dock the same as the bundled titles; a verse-synced commentary like Matthew Henry follows the verse you are reading.

More collections: additional commentaries, dictionaries, and sermon sets: will appear here as they are prepared. Most of Grace's content is already bundled with the application; this page hosts only the optional large extras.
